Ontario ministry changes name (again)
BY ROBIN HILBORN, Family Helper editor | |||||||||||||||||||||||
(Mar. 19, 2004) The Ontario ministry responsible for child welfare and adoption has changed its name again. As of March 19, 2004 it is Children and Youth Services (CYS), www.children.gov.on.ca, under Minister Dr. Marie Bountrogianni. Three of its previous names were Children's Services (MCS); Community, Family and Children's Services (CFCS); and Community and Social Services (MCSS).
The latter name now belongs to the Ministry of Community and Social Services (CSS), www.cfcs.gov.on.ca, under Minister Sandra Pupatello. CSS offers one service in the field of adoption: the Adoption Disclosure Register, www.cfcs.gov.on.ca/CFCS/en/programs/SCS/AdoptionSearch, which registers parties to an adoption and provides search services to adult adoptees. At CYS's Adoption Unit, manager Rich Partridge has moved to a new job in the Business Planning and Corporate Affairs Division. Acting manager is Cathy Harrison, moving over from her position as manager of the Child Welfare Review Unit.
