Heritage Dinner features roast beef
for Southampton's 150th anniversary
Southampton, Ont., Jan. 18, 2008 -- A roast beef dinner, musical entertainment, prizes and draws will make for an exciting evening at the Curling Club in Southampton on Saturday, Feb. 16. Social hour starts at 5:30 and dinner at 6:30.
Tickets ($25 per person) are available at Bayberry's, Escape Ladies' Wear, Hills Insurance and Vincent Jewellers. It's a licensed event.
This year the annual Heritage Dinner is also a Southampton 150th Anniversary fundraiser ... just one of the events marking 150 years since Southampton was incorporated as a village, on July 24, 1858.
The roast beef dinner will be prepared by Mary Ellen Harrigan of Harrigan's Red & White, helped by a host of volunteers armed with vegetable peelers. A birthday cake is not forgotten, and it will have to be enormous if it is to hold 150 candles.
Plan on a fun evening including music by Marian Ramsdale, door prizes and a 50/50 draw. Door prizes include souvenir 150th anniversary T-shirts and caps donated by Logan's on High Street.
The Heritage Roast Beef Dinner is a great opportunity to pick up 2008 souvenirs -- 150th anniversary buttons, Southampton flags, and Southampton, Then and Now calendars. Plus you'll have a chance to get raffle tickets for the Rotary Club's 150th Anniversary Quilt -- they're $2 each, 3 for $5 or 10 for $10.
